We are in this world, but not of this world.
“Out of sight. Out of mind” does not prove or develop spiritual maturity. (Spiritual) maturity and strength is developed when a muscle is used; not when it’s put in a cast for protection and isolation. That actually weakens the muscle because it’s not being used.
Whenever you’re challenged externally, don’t attack it with complaints or criticism. Attack it with prayer and the Word of God. What’s on the outside of you is fighting to come in. But what’s on the inside of you is fighting to come out.
Therefore, we must understand that our input will determine our output. If you allow the world and sin to come in, worldliness and sin will go out of you. If you allow the power of God’s Word to go into you, Holy Ghost power will come out of you.
You will never be able to consistently control or manipulate what’s happening around you to cater to what’s happening in you. The weights or pressures around you will either aide in destroying you or making you stronger.
Whenever you are met with a reminder of your struggle, weakness, sin or brokenness, this just proves that you still have work to do. You’re still a work in progress. We all are.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you don’t “feel” attacked by the enemy, that he’s not attacking you. The enemy knows that “feeling better/good” is one of the most effective ways to deceive a person into letting their guard down. They become comfortable and complacent. They become less vigilant and even grow weaker.
When we ask God to help us with our weaknesses, expect Him to provide opportunities to exercise and work out that weakness in order to strengthen us.
You can’t isolate, nor insulate yourself from the attacks of the enemy. If you choose to ignore the enemy’s attacks in your life, it still won’t make him go away. If you’re not resisting him intentionally, you’re not resisting him at all.
So you have a decision to make. You either prepare by clothing yourself in the full armor of God. Or you remain fair game for the enemy. Either way, he’s still coming for you.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
